Olympic Golf – Plan your Olympic Golf Day

The Olympic golf tournament is likely to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and even if you have attended other golf events in the past, you still need to know what to wear, what you are allowed and not to bring, and how to enjoy your day out on the course at Le Golf National.

The Olympic golf tournament is unique in that it only happens once every four years but still follows the basic rules of any major golf tournament in terms of etiquette and rules.

When thinking about what to wear, the attire should be modest and sensible. Anything you bring with you to the course should not distract the players or take away from the unique atmosphere and experience of the other spectators and athletes. Remember, even if you have bought a ticket, you are still only a guest!

Attire

Golf is a cultured sport with a moderate and reserved atmosphere, and spectators' attire should reflect this where possible; however, you still need to dress comfortably as you will be out on the course all day.

Tips on attire:

  1. Solid colours look better than items with massive prints or stripes;
  2. Wear neutral light colours, avoiding dark colours as you will be out in the sun for a good part of the day
  3. Do not advertise your favourite brand or sports team on your shirts or hats;
  4. Do not wear your golf spikes as you are not playing, so leave them at home;
  5. Comfortable closed shoes as you will do a lot of walking;

VIEW GUIDE

What to Bring:

  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Cap/wide-rimmed hat
  • Umbrella
  • Rain poncho
  • Binoculars
  • Cell phone (on silent or vibrate)
  • Money for refreshments, food, and souvenirs

We advise bringing a poncho, as they are cheap, lightweight, and easy to carry in your pocket. If you have a Category A ticket for the stand, your umbrella will have to be closed when the game is in play, so the poncho scores a birdie on the 18th.

What Not to Bring

  • Alcohol;
  • Weapons;
  • Signs;
  • Radio;
  • Video cameras
  • Infants and toddlers;
  • Pets;
  • Cameras

Please check your Paris 2024 spectator guide on the additional list of items prohibited when entering Le Golf National.

Please do not ask players for autographs as they are focused on providing you with an excellent and exciting competition.

Mobile Phones

Mobile phones are permitted, but these must be kept on silent mode for all ringers, notifications, and alerts or alarms at all times, as any noise will distract the players!

If a player is in a position to play their shots, please refrain from using your mobile device to send emails, texts, or social media posts.

Even if you do try to escape to La Golf National for the Olympics, we understand that life goes on, but we kindly request that you step away at least 100 meters from the competition before making or taking any calls. This will ensure that you do not disturb or distract the players.

And before we forget, yes, kids are welcome at the Olympic Golf tournament, but running and disorderly behaviour are not permitted, so if you do bring your kids, you will have to ensure you supervise them.
