LOS ANGELES 2028
The Games of the XXXIV Olympiad, commonly known as Los Angeles 2028 or LA 2028 are scheduled to take place from 14 - 30 July 2028, in Los Angeles, California, United States.
This will be the third time that Los Angeles has hosted the Summer Olympic Games after 1932 and 1984, making it the first American city and the third worldwide, after London (1908, 1948, and 2012) and Paris (1900, 1924, and 2024), to host the Games three times.
Golf competitions will be held at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades home to the PGA TOUR’s annual event for more than 60 editions to date (1929-30, 1941, 1945-53, 1973-82, 1984-1997, 1999-2026). Other notable events at Riviera include the 1948 U.S. Open, the 1983 and 1995 PGA Championships, the 2017 U.S. Amateur and the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open.
Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Golf Competition
On 9 April 2025, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board approved the addition of an Olympic Golf Mixed-Team Event, which will debut at the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) and complement the Men’s Individual Stroke Play and Women’s Individual Stroke Play competitions. All three Olympic Golf events will take place at The Riviera Country Club.
The Mixed-Team Event will be contested as a 36-hole competition – 18 holes of four-ball (best ball) for the first round followed by 18 holes of foursomes (alternate shot) for the final round. There will be a maximum of one team per country, with teams comprised of one male and one female who are already qualified for the Men’s and Women’s Individual Stroke Play Competitions. The Mixed-Team Event will take place after the four-round Men’s Individual event, and prior to the four-round Women’s Individual event. The addition of the Mixed-Team Event marks the first Olympic Golf team competition since the 1904 Games.
